Certificate for the verification of a subscribing witness

Is used to verify the signature of an individual who has witnessed the principal’s signing of a legal instrument. The subscribing witness must present themselves before a notary and sign an affidavit which states that they signed the document as a witness.

Affidavit

A written or printed declaration or statement of facts, made voluntarily, and confirmed by the oath or affirmation of the party making it, taken before an officer having authority to administer such oath.

Certificate for the verification of a non- witness

Is a document which a notary public must fill out in order to verify the identity of a non-subscribing witness for the principal signatory of a legal instrument. A non-subscribing witness is an individual who has not witnessed the signing of a document but will vouch for the authenticity of the signature.

Is used to verify the signature of an individual who has witnessed the principal’s signing of a legal instrument. The subscribing witness must present themselves before a notary and sign an affidavit which states that they signed the document as a witness.

Also known as a “jurat,” is a document that is completed by a notary public after they have administered an oath or affirmation. A “jurat” is a notarial certificate that states when, where, and before whom an oath, affirmation, affidavit, or other statement was sworn.
